There has been mention elsewhere, it's listed amoung the several issues that those guys had.

Nothing from M$ though.

Unfortunately, given the lack of screaming users I assume those of us with problems are in the minority.

I tried to uninstall this update and problem still persists.  I think it's something else!

Mine is fully up to date now and I've yet to see this issue. Could it be a video driver issue? I know I've had all sorts of weird problems with buggy drivers before - even things which you'd never in a million years connect to the video card.

It's like communicating with god. You pray and pray and pray for that bike, but you never get a response or the bike.
Then you figure out how it works; you steal a bike and pray for forgiveness.

This problem did not occur for me until i did a windows update. I don't think it's a driver issue at all. Last night I paused a show and let it sit for 10 minutes after that when i hit play, it started back at the beginning. i'm going to roll back later to before those updates and install them one by one.

I have found different results... If I hit pause to resume after waiting for 10 minutes or so it will start at the end or the begining... If I hit play it almost always works correctly.  However after 30 minutes the show will automatically start playing on its own...

Yeah, I think the "hit pause to resume" is probably my problem. on my laptop that is the only way to resume (there is a combination play/pause button on the front). I've installed one of the updates that I think is the problem and will let everyone know how its going. I have it paused in the background now.

Oh, I'm not questioning the windows update theory - what I was suggesting was simply that it could be a driver issue alongside the windows update - as in, perhaps they've used some dodgy code in the driver which has worked fine up until now, but the latest MS hotfix fixed the "loophole" so to speak. It just seems as we would all see the same issue if it wasn't hardware related.

Ok from what I can tell, I've found the culprit. After removing the June cumulative update for media center (KB950126) all my problems have gone away. I'm not sure the update fixed any problems I was having, so I'm going to keep it uninstalled for now. This is of course affter some preliminary tests. i will know for sure as I use media center more.

Yes... sirmeilli is right on the money!  That's the update that is causing the issues.  I also uninstalled it hoping it will not cause other problems!

Found the other reference @ TGB (Knew it was there, couldn't find it again tho'!) - looks like M$ are now aware of the issue.

It's halfway down the page on this thread followed by lots of 'me too' posts.

Just cuase M$ is aware.... doesn't mean it is getting fixed anytime soon :)  Sad  I mean really how doss this issue even make it through the QA group.

Actually I heard the fix was going to be OEM only Smile

Next they will be openly discussing beta programs with us and we will all be invited to participate.
