Okay so I am fed up with mymovies.  So I need to do something else till myCinima comes out.  What are others using?

I would like to be able to import my movie collection easily by scanning my directories.  Here is how my directories are laid out:

f:\video\movies\resolution\title of the movie.scenereleaseinfo\somefile.avi

where resolution is one of the following: 720p, 1080p, and xvid.

Anyone have any thoughts?  Or can discuss how you have things working?

I am also using the great big unpolished snail that is MyMovies. Currently my movies are set like: <SERVERNAME>\Movies\<NAME OF MOVIE>\<NAME OF MOVIE.AVI>. My feeling on your file structure is that in an ideal world, whatever movie collection program, it should be easy to filter just the HD movies.

Ideally we should be able to dump movie files into one big folder and let the collection folder worry about everything. Having said that I guess people would worry about the subtitle files and split movie files etc but I guess if they were named in a specific manner it shouldn't matter too much. Having said that I am used to being able to use windows explorer and go through my movies folder, checking out the album art like images for each movies folder.

As crzykidd says, it would be great to see what everyone else is doing and if it compares to myTV in anyway.

I use Movie Collectorz.... unfortunately, my collection is becoming too big for it, and I really need something else *wink wink* *nudge nudge* Smile It doesn't autoscan directories though

Actually I don't know of any other product, except My Movies that does.

Ya i have 468 movies in mymoves now, and it is just cumbersome to find stuff to watch.

i'm currently using Open media library, have got arount 270 movies in it, imported Mymovies xml file into it, the only problem (for me) was that the only file that it registered the file location for was .avi files, but that should'nt be a problem for you, plenty of option for searching by genre, runtime, rating, the latest build also has an amazon plugin for meta data, interface is pretty nice and quick too.

I thought I heard about a MCML frontend for My Movies that was available now.. Should make things much better, no?

Brian's been hinting at it for months now, but nothing has appeared yet, no screens no nothing. Personally i've gotten fed up of waiting, and i'm always looking for the next thing.

Yeah, I know that - he's, if I'm not mistaken, over a year overdue with his own MCML interface. But didn't someone post something right here in the forums like a month or so ago saying there was now a MCML interface available that piggybacked onthe the My Movies application?

Perhaps I'm wrong. Never did look into it much because I stopped using My Movies years ago (just didn't cut it for my use - and the WAF is very low), but I definitely remember some talk about it.

Personally, I don't see how this is possible because the two apps would require entirely different code (which I think has hurt Binnerup - he is trying to maintain a v.Old hosted html interface at the same time as he should be working on a fully integrated MCML/C# interface/application), but what I was getting at was this - if there is such an interface out there, it should be a million times faster and easier to navigate than My Movies is today.

I use OML (Open Media Library). Just import the Mymovies xml file...point OML to each video file. Great interface..a little long to set up, but it was worth it.

Last update (a few days ago) brian refused to release any further eta although about 3 weeks ago he was hinting at the end of september.  Biggest issue though is that after his buggy first attempt comes out they are releasing it to users with over 2500 points only.  It will not become a full release until all reported bugs are worked out.  And having seen brians coding style - I would say that means arne just needs to beat the commercial release in 2-3 years Stick out tongue

The current post reads as though it will be some time before a first beta will be released - as above, only to users with 2500 contribution points.

He has been working on it since before April. I think he has had a slow coding time with it, and problems to fix in existing versions.

I am currently using Movie collectorz myself. It work Great, for maunal entering. To seperate the movies into folder ehhh... SDmovies folder and HDMovie Folder. When i have enter the movies in to the collectorz and point to file to load. I relable the title of the movies, anything in HD i would have the <title> - HD. Works great for me. ( for now ). I think there is a way to setup a custom filter to filter out whats hd and whats not when you are in collectorz media center. but i havent figure that out as of yet.

I would say this is the best Goopy one there to this date.

Sorting movies into a subfoler for res is no harder than sorting tvshows.  Its just drag and drop :)

I've been using Video Browser with MetaBabel

Video Browser recognised all the mymovies info for each movie and I use metababel for each new one i add.  It just scans teh whole movies folder and only flags up directories with no metadata
