I have Vista TV pack installed and having a problem with stopping a divx or mkv video file. I thougt and it might still be a bug in TV pack but I noticed the stop function works when I don't use MyTV or My Movies to play those files.
When I relocate the video folder to my series folder all series and episodes appear in MCE video and when selecting the file there it plays and it stops like it should. It just goes back to video details screen.
But when I open the file in MyTV or My Movies stopping the video looks like pause mode.
The problem there is when a episode has ended and I play stop to watch the next episode the screen doesn't go back and I use the back button to go back to the previous screen and select the next episode but then MyTV gives an MyTV stops responding error. The video file does play so I need to go to now playing to watch it.
So the stop function is changed after TV Pack but is it a TV Pack bug or is it the way MyTV and My Movies handle those files different then MCE it self?
in TVPack there is no more universal video end screen. Outside of Vistas video section, stopping a video leaves it on the last frame. This isn't a bug in myTV or My Movies, but MSFT not letting the plugin developers know how to tie into the new way of doing it, and of course them not making it universal like the old way.
Not to mention they haven't documented their changes, and they are now "surprised" we're complaining.
The eHome team at Microsoft couldn't organize a pissup in a brewery if you ask me.

I was under the impression that they'd release documentation of the changes after next week's CEDIA event. Is that not the case?
They might, but what's the use.... the developers are all signed to NDAs, and the idea behind including them on beta teams is so they can update their software to comply with any changes to the SDK.
Technically it's already released to OEMs and machines have been shipped that include it.
Kinda stupid to make changes that will break plugins, include the developers in the beta but not release details of these changes to them.
Pure MS FUBAR.

Very true, hadn't thought of that.
Oké clear enough.
Let's hope after 3 September things can be solved.
Does this problem also has something to do with the TV pack update?
When playing x264 (mkv) files and the episode has ended I stop (run into the stop problem) and going back to the previous screen by pressing the back button I select the next episode and I get this error "can't start mytv" and it asks if I will disable the program.
This is not everytime but once in a while. Tested on 3 machines with TV pack installed. I don't have a machine without Tv pack because of the new recording extension I need to have installed TV pack otherwise it can't read the recordings.
Yes, it's a known bug with the TV Pack.... MS have changed the way MediaExperience works, it's basically reproduceable in any plugin that uses video playback....
It's a significant **** up on behalf of Microsoft, and they've done absolutely nothing to acknowledge it except for "We can't say anything until 9/3"...
This bug significantly delayed the release of myTV 1.2, and caused the removal of a major new feature.
Luckily only another day until microsoft puts out that long overdue documentation and we can finally wrap up myTV development...
myTV Moderator?
myDVD Development Team?
<-- My TV Collection
One can hope so, but I'm not 100% certain that will be the case. At the very least Charlie Owen might be able to respond on the mediacentre sandbox.
I'm not holding my breath for new documentation or fixes anytime soon.
The announcement they were going to make at Cedia, was apparently the exact same three paragraph blurb that was posted [officially] at The Green Button some time ago and I think MS later confirmed there would be no new announcement.
As for breaking changes made by Fiji/TV-Pack - only about a week ago some of our concerns were being "addressed" by Charlie over at the MC sandbox. All he said though was "keep posting bugs here" which pissed me off no end as several of the "bugs" we were mentioning in that thread had been submitted as part of the beta feedback (by myself, and probably others) already.
Any idea if the MediaControl guy has anything additional that you don't have yet? His plugin was just updated and now is working with the TV Pack.
GOOD QUESTION!! I doubt he has any more info unless he figured it out himself and from prior experience he hasnt been very responsive to working with outside developers but it may depend on who. Anyone talked with him before? if not does Arne wanna shoot him an email and find out?
The new Mediacontrol version does nothing with TV pack.
No bookmarks, no fast forward and rewind in divx, mkv.
All plugins are not working 100% anymore so let's hope MS will provide the info the plugin makers need very soon.
