dgaust:

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, there are at least 4 decisions to make when selecting an image

Container, then video codec, then resolution, then aspect.... I really don't know if aspect needs to be included, so I think that should be dropped.

Might just be me, but i like the idea of having the aspect. Especially since I have a lot of old shows that aren't in widescreen. Love where you guys are going with this btw.

But the thumbnails already (in most cases) show you if the file is 4:3 or 16:9? Or am I missing something here?

It's like communicating with god. You pray and pray and pray for that bike, but you never get a response or the bike.
Then you figure out how it works; you steal a bike and pray for forgiveness.

This is only true if you are generating your thumbnails directly.  There are 4:3 thumbnails on theTVdb.com for things that should be 16:9.  It is getting better, but it is still there.

True, but the majority of thumbs are correct - and the ones that are not are up for replacement.

Any chance of looking how the 'Play Next' function works? Atm it's playing the next unwatched ep. but most of the time I just want to watch the next show even if I have watched it. Is there a way to remember the last ep. watched and just play the next one?

Hmm. I won't be changing how the current button works, but I could add another button to do this I guess. All the data needed is stored in the DB, so it's just a matter of coming up with a sproc to pull out the correct record.

Not sure what to name the button though as "Play Next" is already used. Ideas?

Maybe change the name of the old one to 'Play next Unwatched' and make the new one 'Play next Watched'?

Thanks man.

Because the next episode in sequence could be watched or unwatched.

Ahh true. What about 'Play next' and 'Play Next Unwatched'?

dgaust replied on Mon, Jul 6 2009 4:50 | Locked

The problem you're going to have is that they're too similar...

Now ideally - they would be something like

Play next unwatched; and

Play next in sequence

But you're going to get people wondering what the hell 'in sequence' means. How do you differentiate between the two? So unless someone can come up with something that clearly indicates what each button does, using as few words as possible, I don't think two buttons will work.

And if that can't be done, the current functionality is my pick.

Of course, maybe it could change function - i.e if there are no unwatched episodes it will then change to watch next in sequence.

hmm well i like that it plays a random episode automatically when there are no unwatched episodes....although i do like the idea of this....maybe put something in general settings that will let you change what pressing play on a banner does? or maybe being able to choose what it does for each show in the show popup? although i dont know if the code would allow for something like that, and it may be more trouble than its worth

I'd be happy with this option if there can't be 2 buttons.

Ok, found this bug, which was reported before, but wanted to make a note to make sure it was fixed for the next release. If you have a file say s04e24, and you change it to ep25 in myTv, it loads the data for ep24. If you change it back to ep24, it loads the data for ep25 (and so on). Basically, it always loads the data for the old season/ep pair instead of the new one.

Another bug here.

If you have a series, but no episodes, and you select the series, you get 'unable to launch mytv'. Upon clicking ok, you get sent back to Media Center's start page.

I think it would be better if it said, No episodes available (or something similar), and then return you to the series selection screen

Hey Arne, it seems that this list is just going to keep on growing and growing...just wondering how far away a release is?
