Still no update. No lovin' being felt here!
as Dgaust already pointed out. It is a pretty big task for Admin (arnie) to access the site due to some networking issues right now. He is working on myTV as well as some other things (thetvdb.com updates for instance).
I know its hard to have to wait, I kinda hate it to, but I think it will be worth it when we get our hands on it!
like GNR said 'Just a little patience' ;)
I just talked to Admin (Arnie) and he said he'll be doing his best to be back on the forums after this weekend.
I'm gone.. Mediabrowser does everything I want. There's just too many crashes of mytv, database getting out of step with empty series and not clearing itself when I delete things from the file system and too slow talking to XBOX 360. Hopefully one day I'll check back and things will have improved, such a shame
I wish you well with whatever plugin you go with buddy.Another weekend down and still no word on anything, grrrrrr
Now this is getting ridiculous.I have a hard time believing Arne hasn't had access to internet outside his own home for 4 months. (and can't understand why he isn't able to post on his own forums from his own home when the rest of the world can. Good firewall...lets everyone in but yourself)If you run a company and you are serious about it, Public Relations is very important. If I was Arne I would borrow a friends internet and post every now and then. Also, the build was almost done 8 months ago. I hardly believe it's now unfit for release. So what if the new UI isn't done....he can always release it in a later build. I didn't even bother to install Mytv this time since I ratehr wait til it works properly with Absolute Numbers and some other small issues are fixed. I'm sure Arne could post a release that would keep the customers busy and satisfied for a while. It seems some people on this forum has contact with Arne through some other site. Please inform him of our posts here and that he really should show an interest. I am upset, but I'm not starting a fight...just saying what some of us are thinking..or at the very least, me.

It's like communicating with god. You pray and pray and pray for that bike, but you never get a response or the bike. Then you figure out how it works; you steal a bike and pray for forgiveness.
Here's a feature I'd like to have included - the ability to kick off a round of show updating. Basically allow me to kick off what the service does on-demand from the GUI.
My server is running 14 drives and I'm scared to think how much power it is using 24/7. I'd really like to move to having it sleep except when I need it, so it likely won't be available when the service wakes up. I also usually add shows in batches rather than continually, so I'd like to be able to hit a button to tell myTV "new shows are available, add them now", rather than waiting for the service to wake up at some point in the future and notice them.
Anyways, that's my request, not sure if it anyone else would find it beneficial or not.
woolooloo, you might want to consider just changing the time between scans for now. I believe you can go up toe 23 or 24 hours (not sure if 24 will work, I know it used to cause a bug in previous versions, but i could be thinking of 0 hours).
sirmeili, I think I already have it set pretty high. I think the problem will be once I do get sleep working (still have a few issues to iron out), unless I can somehow have the server wake up automatically when the service timer goes off and it wants to work, there is no assurance that my server will be awake so the service won't have anything to do. That could go on for days or weeks until the service cycle happens to occur at a time that the server is not in sleep.
I think I can manually stop and start the myTV service to get it to kick off on-demand, but it would be much easier to accomplish through the 10 foot UI rather than having to go in through VNC.
I'm not 100% sure on this, but doesn't the service run on wakeup?
That's a good question that I'd like to know the answer to for when I eventually, hopefully get sleep working on my HTPC too. But the problem is the server is a different machine than my HTPC (where myTV is installed). So if the service runs when my HTPC comes out of sleep, the server will still likely be sleeping.
I have a suggestion for the "i" button problem. I found this article where the developer comments on the lack of remote buttons to use and suggests and describes the coding of a "press and hold" interface. Basically to pull up the menu, instead of hitting the "i" button (twice to get rid of the MS warning dialog), you could just hold down the Select button for a couple seconds. Seems like a reasonable solution, if both "press and hold" and the "i" button were programmed to do the same thing, I'd probably use "press and hold"
Edit - forgot to include the link http://thedigitallifestyle.com/cs/blogs/developer/archive/2008/12/03/look-ma-no-buttons.aspx
I do know that there's an on PowerEvent action that runs when it detects a wakeup. I'm pretty sure that if a scan is due (i.e it was missed while asleep) that the service start doing a scan.
